INCLUSION AND MEMBERSHIP
ON DECISION-MAKING BODIES

The Center on Human Policy currently has two projects that promote inclusion and membership on decision-making bodies. Both are funded by the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council:

On Board is a collaborative effort of people with developmental disabilities and other disabilities, local agencies, and organizations in the Central New York area to promote the membership of people with disabilities on decision-making bodies (boards and committees) of local agency boards, community groups, and congregations.

Technical Assistance and Resource Center (TARC) is an initiative that works with seven selected projects throughout New York State to promote the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities on organization boards of directors and decision-making committees. TARC provides technical assistance, resource support, and oversight to the seven projects. TARC has recently completed a report on promising practices that is now available on-line:
